Celebrating the Stearns Collection of Musical Instruments: An International and Intertemporal Musicscape

The Stearns Collection presents an exciting multigenre concert highlighting dozens of unique instruments, as part of the William P. Malm Performance Series. The program features U-M student and faculty performers, including a Gamelan Ensemble, a Chinese Orchestra, European Renaissance and Baroque instruments, and analog synthesizers. A recently donated orpharion and automatic banjo will be heard, as well as premiere performances of the xylopong table, the electromagnetic harpsichord, and the collection’s newly restored vintage Moog synthesizer.
